Becoming a Naturalized Citizen
The first step to becoming a naturalized citizen is to obtain a green card, a type of visa which grants you status as a lawful permanent resident (LPR). This allows you to live, work, and move freely throughout the United States, but it doesn’t afford the right to vote or any other such privileges based on citizenship.
To become a fully naturalized citizen, you must then demonstrate that you can speak English, are of good moral character, have learned United States history, and are dedicated to the principles put forth in the U.S. Constitution.
You also must live continuously within the United States for a certain period of time, without leaving. However, if you must leave for an emergency, there are other forms that allow you to do so without disrupting your period of continuous residency.
Trust Our Knowledge and Experience
When applying for naturalization, it's essential that your applications have no mistakes, and that you meet all deadlines and requirements to facilitate the smoothest, swiftest possible transition of status from immigrant to citizen. By hiring an attorney to help with this process, you can rest assured knowing that you've given yourself the best chance possible at finally attaining citizenship.
